AboutDFIR Content Update 9/11/2021

Cassie bringing the update this week! I’m immersing myself in the DFIR world so it made sense to couple that up with some research and doing the Site Update was a perfect excuse to make it happen.

On September 21st, Josh Mitchell and Andrew will be putting on a Webinar regarding the new DFIR artifact they’ve been researching called EventTranscript.db. Register for the webinar here! As always, you can find Andrew and his work on the Digital Forensics Discord Server, Twitter, GitHub or LinkedIn

If there’s something you think should be on the website, let us know on our feedback form!

AboutDFIR stickers are a thing! If you’re interested in one, please let us know! Here’s what they look like:

Last, though I’m sure not many could miss it, today is the 20th anniversary of 9/11. Though this is a Digital Forensic & Incident Response focused website, I feel like anything that comes out today should acknowledge the event that changed so many lives and things about the world.

Today, we remember 9/11 and remember those who were lost. Twenty years ago today, four airplanes were hijacked and crashed in the U.S. by suicide bombers. Two planes crashed into the World Trade Center towers, one into the Pentagon, and one destined for another target crashed in Pennsylvania after passengers intervened. Almost 3,000 people died on that day. We lost fire fighters, law enforcement, military personnel, and so many more that day and in the days since. As many who were alive then can say, I remember exactly where I was when it happened. I was young in a small, rural school. They wheeled in the television sets and we watched with teachers and peers as the towers fell. As the population gets older, more and more don’t remember before-9/11 or have that personal connection. I encourage those who want to learn, or remember, to virtually attend the memorial ceremonies today, participate in the moments of silence, and read the first-hand accounts of 9/11/2001. Think of those whose lives changed forever.

Respectfully,

Cassie
